Shaw + Smith’s 2016 Pinot Noir was named South Australia’s hottest wine over the weekend.
The wine snapped up the top spot at No.1 of the Hot 100 Wines list by The Adelaide Review. Compiled annually, the list represents the most drinkable wines made in the state as selected by a number of leading wine judges.
Shaw + Smith is located in the Adelaide Hills and was established by winemaker Martin Shaw and Master of Wine Michael Hill Smith in 1989.
The winning drop is described as “delicate, fragrant, light to medium bodied but with deceptive power, firm tannins and medium-term ageing potential.”
Behind the wine is winemaker Adam Wadewitz, who said: “The 2016 is getting pretty good reviews all-round, but to be given the title of number one in the Hot 100 is truly exciting stuff. I thought Wednesday’s win at the Adelaide Oval was good, but this is dynamite.”
The wine costs $46 and can be purchased from Shaw + Smith’s website. Get in quick.
