Calling all Queenslanders, your weekend doesn’t have to be crummy just because of some bad weather. Why not make it rummy instead?
This Saturday 13th October, Bundaberg Rum Distillery is celebrating its annual Spirit of Bundaberg Festival.
The all-day event will see the grounds of the distillery taken over by food stalls and vendors serving up delicious rum-inspired dishes and cocktails. More than a dozen food trucks will be on site, plating up such tasty delights as pork belly glazed in Bundaberg Rum, Bundaberg Rum spiced sausages, tacos with rum dipping sauce and even Dutch pancakes with salted caramel rum sauce.
Visitors will be entertained by local talent competing in the Battle of the Sounds, which will see the winning musician walk away with $5k in prize money.
Don’t be surprised if you see a few Russell Coight look-alikes wandering around, as the distillery has invited attendees to dress up as their favourite ‘Aussie legend’. The best dressed will be in the running to win a few Bundaberg prizes.
This year’s festival is particularly exciting, as it marks the 130th birthday of Bundy Rum. To mark the occasion, the distillery will release the limited edition Bundaberg Small Batch Spiced Rum at the festival before distributing the spirit nationwide.
The distillery store will also be open for those looking to get their hands on other exclusive Bundaberg Rum releases only found at the cellar door.
“130 years making Australia’s favourite rum is another legendary milestone to be celebrated here at the Distillery,” says Duncan Little, Senior Brand Manager for Bundaberg Rum.
“We’re so proud of Bundaberg as a region, and this festival is our way of thanking the community and our loyal Bundaberg Rum fans for their ongoing support.”
