You may have heard about organic wine recently as more Australian winemakers opt-out of putting nasties in their wine, but what does it really mean and more importantly, how do you find great tasting organic wine?

This month, Cellarmasters is launching an all-new organic wine subscription and to celebrate, not only are we talking about organic wine but we’re also giving away three of the first six-packs of wine!

Organic Wine Subscription

If the last time you tried organic wine was a few years ago, it’s time to try it again. There are now more winemakers getting their hands in the dirt and practising organic winemaking, which means the days of these wines tasting a little funky are growing few and far between.

Even better, the Cellarmasters Organic Wine Reservation helps you to find the best tasting organic wines out there. Chosen by a panel of wine experts, every three months you’ll receive six bottles of delicious red and white organic wines for a cheeky $120. Each time you’ll get something new, delivered straight to your front door for free. There’s no obligation either, so you can opt out at any time.

You can subscribe or find out more here.

What is organic wine?

Often confused with biodynamic and sustainable wine, organic wine is actually entirely different.

Unlike these first two, organic wine must only be made with grapes grown without any synthetic chemicals such as fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. While this makes it more difficult to keep animals and diseases off the grapes, in the long-run it means less nasties in the wine.

Organic winemakers are also restricted to the amount of sulphur dioxide and chemical fining agents they can use in the wine.

To check if a wine is organic, look for the Australian Certified Organic, NASAA Organic and Certified BioGroOrganic logos on the bottle.
