Tasting notes – Aberlour

Aberlour 12 Year Old

12 Year Old

This 12 Year Old has been matured in two types of cask, adding depth of character as well as balanced notes of fruits and spices. This can be seen in its golden amber colour with hints of red that opens for a very soft and rounded nose with fruity notes of red apples. Sherried character and fruity aromas are balanced on the palate with a rich chocolate, toffee cinnamon and ginger spiciness and a warm and lingering finish that is sweet and very slightly spicy.

Aberlour 16 Year Old

16 Year Old

This spiced 16 year old has been double matured in a combination of
ex-bourbon casks and the finest ex-sherry butts, to which it owes its deep, complex flavours and the perfect balance of fruit and spice. The rich golden amber colour of this 16 year old brings rich, dry scented floral and sweet raisin aromas with spicy nuttiness and smooth, full, sweet floral and spicy flavours with soft plum fruitiness and gentle oak before a long, warm spiced fruit finish.

Gaelic for ‘of the origin’, A’bunadh is matured exclusively in Oloroso ex-sherry butts. It is a natural cask-strength malt whisky produced without the use of modern-day chill filtering methods or the addition of water. Its deep rich amber hue opens for aromas of mixed spices, praline and spiced orange on the nose with rich, deep notes of Olosoro sherry before a full-bodied and creamy palate of orange, black cherries, dried fruit and ginger with dark bitter chocolate and enriched with sherry and oak. Finish is robust and intense with bittersweet notes of exotic spices, dark chocolate and oak.
