Bushmill’s Original is a blend of triple distilled single malt whiskey with a lighter Irish grain whiskey. The nose is light and fruity with spicy aromas and vanilla notes developing into crème brulee. From here this whiskey lends a gentle, warming mouthfeel with a touch of honey sweetness. The finish is crisp and fresh with a touch of spice.
An intriguing name and an intriguing flavour, right from the pour you’ll notice the dark colouring of Black Bush‚ a result of maturing for up to seven years in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and sweet bourbon barrels. Nose is big and full to start and quickly turns light with a hint of spicy fruitcake. This 80 per cent malt premium whiskey floats across the tongue to deliver dark‚ velvety fruity notes right through to the back of your throat. Finish lingers with a smooth sweetness.
The first of the single malts‚ and one that will leave you with an exceptionally smooth finish. The distinctive Bushmills light fruity aroma travels over the lip of your tumbler to deliver 10 years of maturation mostly in bourbon seasoned barrels. Nose is of light fruit and spicy aromas while that old Kentucky spirit becomes melted chocolate and honey that sits on the tongue. Finish is crisp and clean, which gently dies off.
Well‚ it takes a special dedication to create the bushmills 16 year-old. Two whiskeys are matured for 16 years‚ one in a bourbon barrel and the other in sherry‚ and then they are married together in a sweet port infused cask.
Aromatics of almond and a nutty sweetness is showcased on the nose while a warm port sweetness rests on the back of the throat and drifts up to form an almond, marzipan infusion with hints of honey and praline on the tongue. Finish offers deep notes of jam and chocolate.
