No rules, just ‘Awesome’ Scotch

Monkey Shoulder doesn’t do things traditionally like trying to tell you what you’re tasting, they know that when it comes down to it it’s all up to your own nose and taste buds. Instead, this innovative whisky brand throws caution to the wind and hints at the fact that it’s smooth and rich, with mellowed vanilla and goes pretty darn excellently neat, on the rocks, mixed or in cocktails. Not that they like to brag, but Monkey Shoulder’s mantlepiece is resplendid with numerous awards including Gold at both the 2012 and 2011 International Wine & Spirits Competition.

Monkey Shoulder global brand ambassador Dean Callan prefers to sum it up in one word “awesome”. If you ask Malt Master Brian Kinsman, he’ll give you more detail and talk to you about “zesty citrus orange and spicy oak” on the nose while world renowned whisky writer, Dave Broom, was impressed by its “good balance between vanilla, spiciness and soft, soft sultana fruits and lovely melted chocolate on the finish”.
