In the peak of winter, it’s around about now you’re probably thinking or planning a trip to a place a little warmer. On the east coast, one of the go-to destinations
With excellent restaurants, beaches and a vibe that makes you feel automatically relaxed, here are some of our trusty favourites along with a few new places we’ve keen to try out soon.
Currently open for lunch + dinner (Thurs- Sun)
The drive from Byron town along Coopers Shoot Road to Harvest will probably make you fall in love with Bryon just that little bit more. The scenery, homes, and views over the Hinterland are amazing. When pulling up to Harvest, it resembles a 1900s cottage, which is now converted to a restaurant. Featuring a large verandah that wraps around the building, opt for an outdoor table so you can enjoy the view over the bakery or veggie garden.
Visit Harvest for a long lunch and enjoy their carefully curated menu showcasing local producers and native Australian ingredients. Enjoy the award-winning wine list which explores small, conscientious wine-makers and lesser-known Australian varietals.
Meet Head Chef Alastair Waddell for a wood-fired menu inspired by Australia’s producers and under-utilised native ingredients in the 118-year-old bakery.
The mood is relaxed, the fit-out is cosy and the dishes are simple and honest but incredibly finessed. Chef Alastair Waddell relies on Harvest’s historic wood-fired oven and the best local produce that Byron Bay and its surrounds have to offer.
Harvest Marketplace: open daily
Harvest’s local veg boxes with foraged native ingredients, recipes, and word search are perfect for the whole family. Add healthy, nourishing takeaway meals, date night dinner, pantry essentials, take-home wellness kits and immunity boosting foods to your order, available in store and online.

Ambruna’h Spanish Omelettes
Pre-order for Friday delivery
Javi Mayrata at Ambruna’h, has mastered the art of Spain’s most famous dish – The Spanish Tortilla (a potato and onion omelette) – which can be found in every single tapas bar in Spain. It’s no wonder the Byron Shire have become obsessed with this rustic offering with a gooey centre, as its one of few dishes that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; in between bread, with salad, other tapas dishes, or on its own. One loved equally by kids, adults, and chefs – hot or cold.
